Japanese e-mail

I need to send japanese e-mail from a form but keep getting only the machine code in the e-mails (not the expected Japanese characters)

can someone pass along the method for sending japanese encoded e-mail

I have looked at mb_language() and mb_send_mail()

Not a lot of examples on their use in php.net

when I did test the mb_language (Japanese) then I got error message saying function not available or similar so I think mb_language may not be installed

I'm on a shared hosting plan so getting it installed may be hard to get them to do it.

i think you need to send a character encoding header in the mail

just did a quick google and got this article entitled "How Japanese E-mail is Different"
