Writing a file on a windows based system?

Ok now I am ready to beat up Bill Gates (again) even if this problem has nothing to do with him. 🙂 OK here is my question. I am trying to do an upload script for myself on a windows based system. I am running XP with Apache, PHP, MySQL yeah all the goodies. I set this little test server up myself just to play around on. I am aware of doing a 777 chmod on a unix/linux based machine but how in the heck do you do that on a windows machine? So the php file can write to the system? I need some help understanding the "complexity" of windows if there is any. I am going to keep searching on the net but I haven't found anything yet. If you know where to point me in the right direction just let me know. I hate windows so this is just fuels my fire. Haha.

You shouldn't need to, but right click the folder, go to properties and make sure that it isn't read only. The usual CHMOD stuff you would do on Nix doesn't need to happen, since Windows isn't smart enough to put security on every folder like that.

Actually I just ran the script and it did write a file. So I didn't have a really good solution on this one. Sorry I can't be more help than that.

I simply need to upload a file using http form... on windows xp/apache/php system

I have tried exec ("copy.... and copy (x, dest....

Cannot get either to work...the closes I've got is from the php manual and it gives me a permission denied error.
