passing domain name to variable

Hi Guys,

Is there anyway to assign a variable based on what domain name is typed in? I'll clarify..

say I type www.blah.com, I would like the variable $sitename to be set to blah, ie getting rid of the www and .com part. Im thinking of making a webhosting service where I can make a template and then have that template customised to customers needs. from there I figure I could just do a php include with $sitename.php or something to load the settings which are unique to that webpage. Hope this makes sense,

any help appreciated.

Take a look at $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] and see if that's what you're looking for. You'll still have to trim off the www and .com or whatever is on the end. You might cheat by using explode on the period and then look at the 2nd array element. Or you could use regular expressions...
