Search and PHP

Greetings!

I'm considering of learning PHP and implementing it onto my site. Currently the site is in html and I am using a CGI script called KSearch from KScripts.com to search the site. I love the versatility of the script, but it does not seem to parse PHP files. Has anyone had any similar problems or do you know of a good search routine that I could use? Should I use a PHP script to do the search?

Any help will be appreciated.

I use some JavaScripting and a CGI driven guestbook, but all of the content that I want searched is static. KSearch does not search the JS or the guestbook, which is the way I want it.

What I want to start using PHP for, is for simple Server Side Includes for much of the redundent coding I have and to replace some of the JavaScripting that I'm currently using. The content I want searched will, for now, remain in XHTML.

So the pages will basically be XHTML with snippits of PHP. But since the file extension is ".php" instead of ".html" KSearch ignores it.
