News page

I have been building a news page for my site (site built in html) and so far it has went good.

I have a news update for which adds news items to a news.txt file, I can also see my update news items using my view page called view.php.

My problem is that I was hoping to show my news items in a textarea on my site news page. As yet I ahve found no way to load the data form my news.txt file into my news page.

Can this be done?

Sure can be done.

What is the problem you are having? Placing it in a textarea (As in a form?? <textarea name="">88place content here</textarea>)

Or reading from the file? Use fopen() and fread()

Sorry leatherback if I have been a little un-clear

I have made a form to input my news item (works great, php send info to a file called news.txt everything working well.

I have a html web page with a standard textarea on it. I was trying to get my news.txt content to display in this text area when the page loads.

But as I said have been unsuccessful so far

You can have it any way imaginable (almost :p ) but.. What do you mean with a standard textarea?
What is the problem you have? Getting the info from the file? Of how to embedd it in the page?

Just a textarea draged on to a page (ie Dreamweaver)

I can view the news items on my view.php page, but I want to view on news.html

Or how to embedd it in the page?
This is what I need, how do I embed the my news.txt content in a textarea or what ever on my news.html page. Or show my view.php content on my news.html.

Which ever you think is the best way to go

You are using a WYSIWYG editor.. Shoulld have told me that! ;-)

I'd go with news.php ...

You need PhP scripting to view the content fo the file. you could include it through an iframe I suppose, but i am not a fan of those.
How to include these through dreamweaver.. no clue. Never opened the program in my life!

That also makes it a bit diffcult to help you for me.. I don't know what the options there are!
If you have the option to include pure PhP statements the easiest would be (If you do not need to do any editing to the text is to place this line between <pre> </pre> tags:
<?php include("news.txt "); ?>
at the place you want the news.
Depending on how you store it, you may want to add formatting, but then you should go into deeper PhP programming (Or store it with formatting..).

ps. on the WYSIWYG editor, me and 99% of the rest of the world most editors are WYSIWYG to some extent now a days.😕

Not sure if this will work but its a simple fix. You have two options.

<textarea><?php include("news.txt") ?></textarea>
<textarea><?php include("view.php") ?></textarea>
