installing mysql at boot

Which programs do I have to place on the init directory
to run Mysql and Apache automatically
each time my computer boots?

Depending on what linux distribution you are using, i would go into the kde and and look for the services options (most of the time under control panel), and select the programs you would like to run at boot-up.

Failing that i would suggest a program called Webmin which is a web based program where you can change system settings including boot-up options.

As creating a script to run a program at boot-up can be tiresome.

Assuming you're using RedHat or Fedora, you can type this command in a shell: redhat-config-services

Check httpd and click start -- do the same with mysqld. Click on save settings to make those changes permanent.
