PhP + GD + Freetype not working :(

Hi

I have installed the 4.3.3 version of php with gd enabled. this works well since weeks. Now I need freetype also, I downloaded freetype-devel-2.x.x.rpm and installed it with rpm -i

I added --with-freetype-dir to the configure of php (i tried --with-freetype-dir=/user/lib/ also)

when I run configure it says:

Checking for GD support... yes
...
Checking for FreeType 1.x support... no
Checking for FreeType 2... yes (so I assume everything is fine)

then I run
make
make install

and restart my apache

but there is no freetype support, the gd part of my phpinfo() looks like this:

GD Support enabled

GD Version bundled (2.0.15 compatible)

GIF Read Support enabled

JPG Support enabled

PNG Support enabled

WBMP Support enabled

XBM Support enabled

why is there no freetype? I dont get it 🙁

Can anyone help me, or at least tell me where I can look for more information.

ok I solved it myself:

I had to run "make clean" before I run make again...

well, I dont understand why, because I could add other options without running make clean first...

Anyways, its working now. 🙂
