Hi there,

For my customers websites I usually offer a printer-friendly function. What I do is sending the file to a print-PHP where I fopen/fread the printable content which I declare with HTML-comments (like ).
This works on various webservers just fine (over http).

At the moment, I work for a client, that uses SSL (over https).
And here, my script doesn't work. The error message says, that the file (which I want to print) cannot be opened or does not exist. When I switch back to http, the same script with the same file, which I want to be printed, displays correctly without error messages.

I already asked the serveradmin, but he didn't have an answer to the problem. So I checked all PHP-Forums and the php.net Website for answers, but without success.

Hi,

Just open exactly the same file for printing as you had opened, only instead of linking to your standard stylesheet, you link to a stylsheet designed for printing. If the normal page works, then the printpage works too.

(You could actually just define a media-type print, which would adapt the page for printing, you only do not see the different layout untill you have printed).

You use stylesheets right?

you have the option to set the visibillity / display to none, which would hide all elements with that tag. Also, you ca set font-colors, sizes, position etcetc.
If you do that consequently, it is very easy to have one stylesheet for display on screen, with fancy colers, menubars, graphics, and an other which is just plain black and white, no menubars. Add the page address etcetc. So when you click on print, it uses that CSS file (With in the link: media: print, see example file)
