PHP Working environment

Can anybody suggest me which is the best environment for PHP Windows. Also suggest the editor.

I would also like to know about the associated file extensions.

Personally, I reckon that it all depends on what you want to use the environment for. If it's just developing, then you can't really go wrong with IIS and PHP and then Dreamweaver as an editor.

However, if you are using it to actually run sites, then I wouldn't use Windows (unless you have absolutely no choice whatsoever). Try using something like Debian which (as someone who has very little knowledge of Linux) I found very easy to get into and use properly.

I must agree. Crimson Editor is great. Best environment would be apache if that is what you are referring to. If you are referring to preconfigured packages, the best would be XAMPP.

Apache is the #1 Web Server in the world according to Netcraft. It's ease of use, reliability, and cross-platform unctionality put it there. I'd recommend that for the webserver. As far as editor's go, everyone has an opinion. You'll never get a straight answer on this. Search the forums here, especially the Echo Lounge, since there's been tons of editor names tossed out in some big discussions already.
