Using GD library to make a PHP game engine

would using GD to output images for a game be very laggy? or should I use something with JAVA SCRIPT and then link it through PHP functions to a database? I think GD is very much creating images on the fly which would use to much CPU, from what I have anyway. any comments or ideas/suggestions are

don't understand how you plan to use js to create images rather than gd...

gd is very quick, although it depends on what images you are planning on creating, what speed your server is, traffic, all that. GD is your only option i think, so do some tests and see how you think it's going to perform. Nobody can answer a question that vague
