Secure Access To A Servers Root Shell?

Hello,

I have decided to take on a long-term project, a web server management application (WSMA) written in PHP. The majority of the issues have been resolved.

WSMA is still left with one remaining issue I'm hoping someone can offer some help/direction on how to gain secure access to the servers root shell via PHP.

The core system will be written in PHP. If needed C++, JavaScript and/or Java can be used.

WSMA will need to run on a LINUX platform. I'm also hoping to eventually provide game, news, and file server support.

Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not entirely sure about this, so it might be worth getting a second opinion on the matter, but would it be possible to use a secure server (i.e. use SSL) and then use this set of functions to connect to the ssh port on the server?

Do you think i should program the core in C++or PHP?

If C++ than I would use PHP to create a web interface.

take a look at the cobalt source ( wich has been released under GPL )

they use c++ as core and they integreted php within c++

looks like a good way to do your stuff 😉
