like the silly boy i am i decided to upgrade apache gd and php on my laptop ready for a presentation i have to give to "sell" my site to my variety groups comittee... needs to be sold verbaly and visualy..... but i come accross a problem.. now when i use netscape on the laptop (laptop running redhat9 apache 2.0.48 gd2.0.20 and whateva the latest php is on the site) it asks me to choose a save locoation.

This is not what i expected!...

on my windows machine it shows me the php sourcecode??..

what have i done wrong / need to change?

Sounds like a MIME type setting/configuration on Netscape. Whatever Content-Type value is in the page you are creating, netscape things it need to be downloaded instead of being shown. Could be as easy install the plugin to display the type of file you are viewing or change some kind of MIME type settings on netscape to not download but display the page.

Hope this gives you an idea, because I do not know if its the answer without more testing.

I don't have the code on me right now, but if you reinstalled apache, you may have to edit apache's configuration file (something like hpconf...not sure). Anyway, when I installed apache on my laptop I had to add an exec command to execute php.exe for certain filetypes. (and add filetypes to another command in the conf. file to get parsed).

Searching over at apache.org should help somewhat.
