Time-based includes - help needed!

I'm a newbie to PHP, and I need help with the following.

I'm designing a website for a radio station, who want a "Now On:" section on their front page. See this example for a clearer idea of what I mean.

What I wan't to know, is how (preferably exactly how 🙂) this kind of thing can be achieved using the if statement and the date() command.

If any clarification is needed, please reply below.

Seems pretty simple to say if it's between noon and 4PM, so and so is on...

$hour = date("H");
if($hour >= 12 && $hour <= 16) {
   //so and so is on
}

How could I change this code so that it could take into account the following variables:

The day of the week
Exact time (both hours and minutes)

This is because the schedule for the radio station is not identical every single day, and because some shows begin and end at half past, quarter past, quarter to etc.

umm... how about taking a look in the manual for [man]date()[/man]? that might help, for one thing.... then maybe look into a [man]switch()[/man]?

To be honest, I'm not at all hot with PHP, so I was really looking for anyone who could point me to an example piece of code - or even very kindly craft a little something themselves!
