Beginner in mysql

Hey,

I have a simple question about mysql.

Do you know some really good places for mysql/php tutorials? The thing is, I have looked at some, but they all have these complicated ways of setting up a db. Can't I just do it through my cpanel? I was looking for a tutrorial where I could set it up like that, and then I have found a couple on using php and mysql together(like how to read from mysql and stuff like that) I just kinda need to find a tut on how to set it up?

Any advice/suggestions would be great.

PHPBuilder, sitepoint, and webmonkey all have good tuts. Whenver they give you code, you can just copy and paste that into the query panel on your database admin software.

Any kind of articles you know to just start me off? I don't know any mysql, don't know how to do any databases, to add them, or search them, or anything. Any first time mysql tutorials around here?

Kevin Yank has a good one on sitepoint. That's the first one I read that made any sense to me. Once I got my feet everything snapped into place.

Ok, I will go and look at it(I found one on webmonkey too, reading it as we speak)

Do you think mysql was harder to learn than php, or was php harder to learn?

I really hope php was the hard part 🙂

For me, the hardest part was just understanding how to get stuff set up. If someone had just said "download phptriad until you know what you are doing", I would have been leagues better off. PHP is much more complex than mysql. I had worked with databases before, so it wasn't completely new.
