Progress bar while uploading a file

Hi, i am developing a page where users can upload files on to the server. these files can be very large and so i want a progress bar so that the user knows that the file is being uploaded.

Not easy considering the server doesn't know how large the file is. How's the server going to display a bar saying how long it's going to take if it doesn't know how large file is?

This has also been discussed a couple of times here. You'd do yourself good to search the forums.
