Template tags or whatever for update by Forms

I'm working on a generic CMS for a site I'm doing, and I've gotten past a number of hurdles... the database is largely set up, I've finally configured my textarea replacement so it doesn't freak out (HTMLArea from itools).

But I've noticed that some things don't really seem like they should be part of the database. Like page titles...

How do I make the page so I can specify portions of html / text to be written from form input. I've really got no clue, and I haven't had much success searching the forums (maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms)

I'm sure it must be simple 🙂 Help me out 😃

Alright.... let me clarify a bit.

Here's the input from the form

<input name="pagetitle" type="textfield" size="42">

Here's the area in the php file it needs to be written to:

<title>area to modify Page Title Name end area to modify</title>

Sooo... then I want to open the file, find the segment, overwrite it, and close it...

if($pagetitle)
{
$fp = fopen($doc_name,"mode?");
find area to insert text
write the new text, overwriting whatever was between tags
fclose($fp);
}

I'm sure there's tons of scripts and solutions for this.. I just can't find them...
