PHP Connecting

Hey guys,

Im just starting php and I have messed with it before but i like to hit it full throttle

See i have used it within my forums..using my mysql db to connect . I know theres something i need to do in order to connect to my mysql within the <head> of my .php in order for it to work. Somw were saying i could use a mysql db but i also could use a module. Define this module or if you could, just help me out on connecting to my mysql db<--the coding

well, what exactly do i need to do in order for php to work when i like to view it? I know theres something i need to do in order to activate you could say "PHP" within my html/php document. I have a server and it supporst all the latest php etc... I just need to know what i need within the heading of the document

such as, do i need to use mysql to do it

mysql dbname= blah blah

etc etc

But in code format
