checking for spaces?

how can i use eregi to check for spaces? i don't care if any other characters are used, just no spaces..

i think i just don't really understand the format of ereg.. i know you start it with a ^ and end with $, but other than that I'm lost. i've read the manual at php.net, but i still don't understand anything about the format and what means what...

If you just want to check if a string contains a simple string then use strpos() and if the result is greater than or equal to 0 you have one in the string. With regards to regex's it's generally quicker to use the preg functions and there are a lot more tutorials out there for perl regular expressions.
