Very weird problem with variable passing (Pic Attached)

I'm getting rather frustrated with the problem I'm having, and would be extremely happy if someone might be able to help me out.

Here's the very quick version... I'm trying to pass a variable from one page to another (using ?to_edit=6 on the end of the new page) but for some reason the variable is not passed. I cannot access or display the variable on the new page.

I have been using php for 3+ years, and I've done this exact same thing soooo many times before, but now all of a sudden it's not working. I'm getting this weird feeling that it's actually something to do with a php setting on the server itself, and not a problem with the code.

I've attached a screen shot to this post, and it basically shows everything, including the actual code that should be displaying the number 6.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

My best guess is that your server has register_globals turned off. Try changing the code to:

echo "to_edit: " . $_REQUEST["to_edit"];

If that works, then you have register_globals off.

There's also some function you can use to test if register_globals is off, but I'm too lazy to actually look that up...
