How to display track title using php while mp3 playing?

Hello guys!

I wish you all have a happy new year full of health & personal happiness.

Now to get to the point...

I'm designing a site for an internet cafe; and from what the supervisor told me they want to have a place where the surfer could see wich song is playing at the moment in the store... I thought of a way to do it using mp3 files taken from a pc (that plays music using winamp) and have the title & name displayed by reading it's ID Tag. Is there a way doing it using Winamp? What I mean is, while Winamp plays the mp3 file, php recognizes it & reads it's ID Tag which then echoes it in a simple way.

There's a combination of ways to do this. Its a matter of finding one that fits what you want to do and how much time you want to spend.

I've seen one plugin that adds an HTTP server to Winamp. Using Curl, you could connect to the server and pull the live MP3 info whenever you want. I found this bogs my machine down a little, but if all this computer is doing is dishing MP3s, then its probably not a big deal.

Another option I've used is there was a Winamp plugin which dumped the MP3 info to a file. Then its just a matter of having PHP read the file whenever you want.

Lots and lots of ways to do this. You just need to find a Winamp plugin which you think you can work with...

I use something from http://www.listen-to.com/ that is a plugin for winamp.

It connects to their website, then they give me a code to put within my script.

Another way to do it... I'm not a big fan of the 3rd party dependency like this one has, but it is another option.
