Performing searches. Advice?

Hello,

I have a MySQL / PHP based site which I am in the process of creating a search engine for. I am extremly interested in performing URL savable searches and would love ANY advice whatsoever on the subject.

For instance, I would love my users to be able to link to a search like so:

http://www.mysite.com/search.php?terms=search+for+these+terms

The result of course would correspond to the terms searched and return a result.

Are there easy mySQL functions to perform such searches? FULL TEXT searching? Any coding help is appreciated, as well as any other suggestions!

If you want to be able to bookmark the URL from a search use the GET method. That puts all the form data into the URL so it's bookmarkable. I havn't make a search engine at this point but try looking at some of the phpBuilder articles.
