Anyone using ADOdb?

Are there anyone here using ADOdb?
I see that the last update for ADOdb was 20 March 2003 - is it getting old and nobody using it any more?

What is the advantages using a SQL Class like ADOdb?
Are there any better Classes?

I downloaded it and I do INTEND to get on the case and use it, I just haven't done so yet.

The advantage is that you can port your application/website to any DB that PHP supports without rewriting all the code. You just change the DB access parameters and you're laughing, at least in theory.

If you'd like to post your experience with ADOdb, I for one would be interested in what you have to say.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean a class for accessing MySQL - lots of people do that - or do you mean a class which accesses any DB which is based on SQL (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL etc)?

If you mean the latter, that's what ADOdb is - a class for any variation on SQL, or at least that's what I understand it to be.

Perhaps I'm missing the point?

I haven't used ADODB, but I have used the odbc function set which seems to be relatively easy to use and is obviously portable. I'm sure ADODB has some built in functionality beyond that of the odbc function set, but you can achieve anything you want to with the odbc function set (it just might take slightly more work).
I've used PHP with Access and with SQL Server using odbc functions.
If you want me to post any code just let me know.
