find a streak?

Hello:

Does anyone have any idea how I would go about finding a streak? For example the below mysql query would give me the below results. How do I make it so I can find the streak (Win 3) or whatever the case may be?

SELECT * FROM PLayers WHERE PlayerID = 1

PlayerID|WinLoss

1|Win
1|Win
1|Win
1|Loss
1|Loss
1|Win
1|Loss
1|Loss
1|Win

Just keep track while you are going through the rows:

$num = 0;
$prev_type = "";

while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
    if ($row['WinLoss'] == $prev_type) {
        $num = $num + 1;
    } else {
        $num = 1;
    }
    $prev_type = $row['WinLoss'];
    if ($num >= 3) {
          //You have a streak of type WinLoss
    }
}

Errr...yeah

  SELECT WinLoss, 
         count(WinLoss) AS cnt
    FROM PLayers 
   WHERE PlayerID = 1 
GROUP BY WinLoss

would produce:

WinLoss|cnt
-----------
Win    |5
Loss   |4

I think he's implying that there's a timestamp of some sort on the data and that they need to be ordered in that way.
If there's not then your way is right.

Should be able to sort/narrow down results by timestamp in the SQL. That's just how I'd do it. Yours would work too.
