I'm a total novice - need help!!

I've managed to get one record to display on my web page.
I have a "Next Record" button. The idea is that when this button is pressed, a new record should to be displayed on the same web page.
I think it's got something to do with incrementation - but not sure how to implement it.

How do I get a new record to display each time the "Next Record" button is pressed?

Where are your records stored? In a database? If so, which one?
