Getting Table / DB Size

If you have ever used phpMyAdmin you will know what I am looking for.

I would like to pull the size of my databases with a PHP driven page.

But I cant find the query/cmd to send to get that information.

If you know of something or the commands... anything... please let me know.

I have been ripping through the phpMyAdmin code and I can't seem to find it.

Define "size" Number of tables, number of columns, number of rows, size on the hard drive, etc...

I know how to get the approximate size of a table / database in postgresql via SQL, but don't have a clue how to do it in MySQL. Does the manual have anything to say about it? I'm guessing you're gonna have to look in the data directory for mysql to find out.
