Can't use Sendmail under Window2000

Can't use Sendmail-------

I have installed with a free downloaded sofeware to automatic installed the APACHE+PHP(433)+MYSQL to my win2000 sp4. But I can't use sendmail or mail(). I found it seems no sendmail related files in the directory. How to install it? In the php.ini, the path of sendmail should point to where? Or actually, the version did not install the sendmail. If it is the case, how to send email? To use imap function? I don't know this setup too. Pls help for urgent, thanks.

The case is, I want to make a php page that to confirm the members' applications by sending the email to the applicants for their confirmations ( in HTML format, not in text format). Any suggestions?

sendmail is on unix-based systems. With Windows, you set your SMTP in php.ini, and it sends through that.

Would you kindly tell me how to set the SMTP, as I only concentrating on PHP and ASP programming. I rarely use SMTP and email.
