Save them outside of your www-folder. For example:

www:
/home/www/site.com/public_html/

your folder containing zip files:
/home/www/site.com/zipfiles/

Using .htaccess is a good way too...

but how can i write a full path to access the file yes i have uploaded .zip in the root folder.
but when i write the file like <a href="/home/www/site.com/public_html/somename.zip">Downlod</a>

but when i click on the link it shows message of file not found.

What exactly do you want to do? Sounds like you've already protected your zip file pretty well 😉

When a user wants to download the file. Copy the file from outside the WWW Directory into one, rename it if you want.

When the file is sent to the user destroy the file using unlink() do not delete the file that is outside of the WWW

Well this is not the answer of my question, what I want is – I want to put my .zip files nad .jpg file in secure folder of the server, but I don’t let them download any way without my permit ion. Did you get that??
I make it more clear, <a href=http://www.phpmind.com/op/zipname1.zip>Cli here to download </a>

But I want to put zipname1.zip in some where else so that body can download it this is the thing.
One more thing I have some other files like zipname2.zip, zipname3.zip.
I want to secure them in putting them in server without writing a long code. Is there any other way to protect my .zip ot .jpg file.

You're the one with the problem.
