scheduling problem with php and mysql

i am trying to create a online sceduling system for boss at the petrol station using php and mysql. can anyone please tell me the best way to go about this as i am a total beginer and need to have it done by the end of april. please help !!!!!!
i have been told to use a scheduler linked to the php and mysql site but and use it to do the scheduling but i have searched all over the net and cant seem to find anything of the sort. can anyone shed some light on this for me please

if your problem is with the scheduling you should do a search on cronjobs or crontab on this board!
