Hello all.
I'm fairly new to php & MySQL although but experienced enough to be slowly starting to show signs of improvement.
Recently my life has turned a bit upside down.. I have my firs child, a rockin' little girl, am working 30+ hours a week at a 'regular' job doing Web shite, a fair amount of freelance with a growing number of clients, and most recently - this week in fact - I have returned to college full-time to finish my BFA. Phew! That was a mouthful! Speaking of mouthfuls, I am hoping that I haveen't bitten off more than I can chew. If things prove to be too much - there are only so many hours in a day - I'll have to start looking for places to cut. Obviously some things cannot be cut - my daughter for one is not an option. School is second in my list of priorities. The rest? I'll just have to see.
Anyhoo, that's quite enough of an intro I think. Here's what I'm getting at....
IAt home I have a halfway decent satellite internet access set up, with a desktop pc and an Apple PB. At work I have a desktop pc and a pretty snappy cable connection. At school I was given a pc laptop with wireless 11b with which it conncect to the school which is one huge wifi network.
So here I am, little 'ol me with more 'puters than I have hands, one permanent and two semi-permanent email addresses. The trouble is, I don't know how to best deal with all of this stuff. The school laptop is with me perpetually. I spend half of my days at the office on the desktop, and eves I'm at home til the wee hours on my own desktop. At this point, I'm not even using the Apple PB.
What I need is a central waorking environment/storage space where I can access all of my files whether they be freelance, school, or work related. Is a simple ftp server or a MS web folder the best bet? Ihave access to a couple od web servers with php & MySQL, is there something built using them that can help me organize my work and life?
Just now I got an email from a freelance client (i'm at work now) that needs something I could easily deliver if I only had the fonts I have at home. I do graphic design for print and the web, webmastering, php and MySQL.
Is anyone out there in the same boat as i? I'd sure appreciate some advice, suggestions or feedback. I'm starting to go schitzo.
