Chron Jobs.... where do we begin...

Hello everyone.

I've noticed on my server's administration pannel some 'Chron Job' thing, after investigation i've found this is what i've been needing for ages (currently the client's computer opens the page in IE every morning).

Anyway, to stop this nonsence, i'm going to do a chron-job to sort it out.

On the pannel, I have a list of different times/dates and intervals, and that bit i've worked out. Only thing is, what is the command?

Say I wan't to exicute the following script, what command should I run?

/admin/email/reports.php

It depends on what applications are available to this "control panel."

I own my boxen, and have installed both the PHP Apache module and the CLI, so my cron(8) jobs generally look like:

/usr/local/bin/php -q /path/to/somescript.php

If the code is in some web directory (accessible to a browser) then I can use lynx (a text browser) to attempt to load the page:

/usr/local/bin/lynx [url]http://mysite.com/myscript.php[/url]

If my server had netscape installed, then....

If you're going to use Lynx, try

lynx -dump http://some.url/ >/dev/null

If you want the output emailed to you remove the ">/dev/null" part.
