hey im trying to add an advanced counter to my website... the idea is to just have a small include on all of my pages, and then the script automatically creates all kinds of statistics about my site

i tried http://sourceforge.net/projects/webanalyse/ but although i removed the errors, it doesnt seem to add data when people goto the pages...

anyways what do you guys use? or do you just use free public ones? i would like to have more control though... currently my counter is from fastcounter, and if you refresh the page you up the counter, i want to also know unique visits (currently i have to look in cpanel, but i woul dlike to make it public)

thanks for your time and sorry if this has been posted before or if it is not appropriate for this board... i just looked for the largest php community because i figured it would know whats the best stuff

thanks!

The only one I've really looked at (and didn't bother looking any more cos I thought it was great) is AWStats.

Oh, I did look at LiveStats (a copy of which I "bought". Very very good package) but I stopped using a windows server so I couldn't use it anymore.

Oh, just one question: you're not the nate from the postnuke forums are you?

probably not... i might have registered there once for a question but im not an active member

only problem with awstats is that its perl... and i dont have personal access to the server... just ftp/cpanel and i dont know if thats enough

i also like the look of livestats ill look into "buying" it also..

you said you stopped because of not having windows server... here is what cpanel says my server is

      General server information:
      Operating system Linux
      Service Status Click to View
      Kernel version 2.4.18-24.8.0
      Apache version 1.3.28 (Unix)
      PERL version 5.8.0
      Path to PERL /usr/bin/perl
      Path to sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
Installed Perl Modules Click to View
      PHP version 4.3.2
      MySQL version 4.0.15-standard
      cPanel Build 8.5.4-RELEASE 7
      Theme cPanel X v2.2.5

but on the official livestat website it says:

LiveStats.NET runs on Windows 2003, XP or 2000. Your web site can be hosted on any platform (Windows, Linux, BSD, Mac, HP, Sun, etc.) using any web server (IIS, Apache, Domino, etc) and LiveStats.NET isn't picky.

what would it have to "run" on... isnt it just a script that would live with my website?
