time calculation

Hello,

I have got a the time in an mysql database, such that it state, Monday 9th February 14:23:03. From here i want to calculate how long it is between the current date and time and the one in the database. I have managed to get the difference in days, however when i try to get the difference between the hours, i get a negative figure, such that if the time now is 00:00:00 then the difference between hours is -14, however if it is 16:23:03 then difference is correct at 2 hours. Can somebody please help me to sort this out.

Take the MySQL timestamp and run it through strtotime() to get the seconds from the epoch.

Substract that from the current time().

Now you have seconds difference, you can do that whole mod and divide by [ days/hours/etc ] to get the difference.
