Can someone tell me why this wont work in print function.

<tr>
          <td align='center' bgcolor='800303'><textarea cols='90' rows='4' name='COMMENTS[]' value='{htmlentities($row["COMMENTS"],ENT_QUOTES)}'></textarea></td>
        </tr>

yes someone can.

but really it's because you can't embed functions inside string. you have to escape from the string to use a function.

I tried that but did not work, can you give me an example on what you mean, I think I am doing it right.

The . is used to concentrate the string. I think + would work aswell.

I don't get an error any more but the comments are not displayed in the text box, it works just fine when I use the printf function, but I went to using the print because it is easier to keep track of stuff.

it wouldn't because there is nothing between the opening and closing tags of textarea.

perhaps you mean:

print("<tr><td align=\"center\" bgcolor=\"800303\"><textarea cols=\"90\" rows=\"4\" name=\"COMMENTS[]\">" . htmlentities($row["COMMENTS"],ENT_QUOTES) . "</textarea></td></tr>");

that is ok, it took me 3 days to find out that textarea is the only form element that doesn't take a value attribute!
