Authenticate php from Win2k AD

Hi all,

Well I must have missed something because I cant even get my php server to see the AD on my Windows 2000 server.

I am trying to build a website on a linux server that will authenticate off of a win2k AD. I have installed everything I think I need to install but no luck.

Is there a resource out there that I could use?

Well, to start with, how do you think a linux server would work with AD?

Also, why not install PHP on a windows server. I'm still not entirely sure how you would get it to intereact with AD, but you'd be a lot closer than if your webserver is Linux.

Ok. Well that may answer one question ...

Can this even be done?

Reasons for not putting PHP on a Windows server, well if we were going to run it on a Windows server .Net would be preferred. There is currently no server available to run IIS on (would not want to install it on any of the DC's) and the application being built is so small it does not justify the addition of another server (it was going to be run on an mrtg box).

Thanks for the input, this will help steer me in the correct direction.

Accessing AD from a Linux server is not possible just using PHP. However, using samba, it is possible to access shared drives, so there might be something out there.
