Msdos

hey, i want to copy the sam file from C:\

to do this, i have to start the windows in msdos. When i boot up the computer using a floppy, the drive will be like

A:>

to go to the c:\

i will have to type it in next to a:>

so it will be like this A:>c:

but, when i type this, i am getting an error message stating, invalide drive

is there any way i can change drive in msdos?

If the drive is not formatted as FAT you may not be able to access it from MS-DOS.

hey, my hard drive is formatted as NTFS.

so, is there any way i can access the hard drive?

As my computer is crashed, i cant get the OS to load up. So i need to recover my important files to another partition.

There is a utility at www.sysinternals.com that allows you to read NTFS from DOS.
