PHP script for sending email using SMTP

Greetings,

I'm looking for a PHP script to send email using SMTP. Can anyone give me a hint here? I don't want to use the mail settings on php.ini because my webhosting server does not have smpt. Any ideas?

You could try using [man]fsockopen()[/man] to connect to an SMTP server on port 25.

(just pulling ideas out of the air)
