[Resolved] removing spaces from a variable

I have some data being used to define a javascript variable name from my database. But one item is causing problems because it has a space in it. Is there a command I can use to strip spaces from a pice of text?

here's the code:

<input type="button" name="<?php echo $row_region['region']."check"; ?>" 
value="<?php echo $row_region['region'];
 ?>" onClick="checkAll(document.form1.<?php echo $row_region['region']; ?>)" >

--edit-- the variable that messes things up is $row_region['region']

$phrase = "Too many spaces";
$phrase = str_replace( ' ', '', $phrase );
echo $phrase

Should give you Toomanyspaces

str_replace('whattoreplace', 'replacewith', fromwhat)
basically take all the spaces " " and replace them with nada "" from the $phrase variable
