OK, heres what I'm trying to do.
I'm making a Conference standings listing for the NHL, based on points BUT in the NHL they have a weird way fo doing standings.
3 Divisions per Conference . . . The top team in each division gets pooled and they get the first 3 positions. After the top team from every division is selected then the rest of the conference gets pooled and then sorted . . . all based on points.
IE:
Team - Division - Points
New Jersey-0-12
New York-0-9
Toronto-1-15
Ottawa-1-12
Montreal-1-13
Carolina-2-10
Florida-2-8
Would turn out the results :
Place - Team - Points
1-Toronto-15
2-New Jersey-12
3-Carolina-10
4-Montreal-13
5-Ottawa-12
6-New York-9
7-Florida-8
Notice how Montreal has more points than Carolina, but Montreal wasnt top in their Division.
Does anybody have any ideas on how would be the best way to attack this beast ?
Thanks in advance
