No, I haven't gone completely bonkers just jet. New version of the browser only part of Mozilla. And it's not called firebird, nor pheonix, but firefox.

Having used it for a couple of hours now, I found that straight after installing it, it was a bit clunky, but now that I've just restarted my computer, it's working great. I have only one problem with it:

WHERE'S IT HIDDEN MY BACK AND FORWARD BUTTONS???? :mad:

Have you tried right click > customize on the toolbar??

FWIW, I had to rename my old profile folder to get it to even load the first time, but after that, its been zipping along nicely. Everything just seems to be a tad bit "snappier".

Yeah, I've tried the customise option. Where abouts is the profile folder in windows? Might try renaming that...

usually:

C:\Documents and Settings(username)\Application Data\Phoenix\

the actual profile in the \Profiles\default(random)\ subdirectory

I just changed the base of the Phoenix files, then copied my bookmarks.html (in the random dir) to the new location (auto-created next time you run FireFox)

Thats the wierd thing. Although I removed the directory that had firebird in it, and couldn't find the profiles directory (I tried the two places that you suggested earlier in the day), Firefox still picked everything up!

Keep in mind, re the name change, that firebird the database had been an open source project for quite a while when the mozilla folks grabbed it without checking to see if anyone else was already using it. the funny thing is, the other name for firebird was IBPhoenix, yet another name the mozilla folks managed to appropriate for a while.

But they really did check pretty hard with firefox, and other than being a plane and the title of Clint Eastwood's weaker movies, I don't think there's a lot to worry about. This name should stick.

I too run the full version. But my buddy across the cubical highway uses fire[s/bird/fox/] and loves it.

have you seen the extension that allows you to edit CSS for any site? not live of course, but on your own computer...this will save me a HUGE amount of time...totally killer concept...v

Actually, you can even use it live. You can't save the changes, obviously, but you can change the styles, thus chaning how the live pages looks to you. Pretty nice.
