paypal variables with php

hello gang,

i am trying to code me up an image gallery that has a feature where you could purchase that picture if you please using paypal's cart option.

the idea is, you would have a select option for size of picture that corresponds to the price of the picture. after selecting the picture size, the variables to pass would be the picture size, filename, and price.

i read using the input hidden fields would not be secure enough as the user could somehow input any price. what alternatives should i use and/or could you point me in the right direction.

When the user selects their desired picture, size, etc.. and press submit, have it take them to a page where it extracts information from a database. The information will then not be tampered with.

You can then lead into your paypal submission from there (by using a wide range of languages, such as PHP and javascript)

thanks for the reply, i have actually figured out how to do it without a database, just define my variables and run it through.

if you check out the link and surf through it you can see i have the backbone to my gallery.

basically it goes like this.

user uploads files to a specified folder and the index points to the specified folder and reads all the images to show the gallery

i have also set a function to show the paypal link on the main gallery page or the popup window for each individual photo.

hope that makes sense, it is 4 php files total. there is no cool looking layout. i know it sucks but will be incorporating it into my designers layout.

also as a backup measure, if you're using ipn you can check the price is right before you process the order
