saving newline chars from textareas

hi,
I am using a large text area in my html, and when the user enters text in this, i want to save it in my database, and then display it on another form. the problem is, when the user enters newlines, they dont seem to be saved in the database??? is this expected? is there a quick way to solve this?

Actually they are(should be) saved. Do you mean that when you pull information from database to <textarea> field that it doesnt show there(it should be) or do you mean that when you just echo as html?

If latter then you have to use nl2br($string)-function to change the newlines to html <br> tags.
