I loved the FrontPage ad and I’ll have to get one of those t-shirts!
Going back to the Linux/Windows ad http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/facts/analyses.asp , having looked at the summaries of the reports it seems to me to be largely staffing costs where MS has the advantage. Is this because the system is more complex to administer or are Linux engineers generally of a higher calibre than their Microsoft counterparts and therefore demand higher renumeration?
And the next part
“Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 vs. Linux Competitive Web Server Performance Comparison…
…Testing included combinations of static and dynamic content requests targeting server configurations of 1–8 processors. In a 4-processor configuration, Windows:
- Has 276% better peak performance for static transactions.
- Has 63% better peak performance for dynamic content.”
So, Windows beats Linux in 1 out of 8 configuration tests…?
No word on stability or bugs/viruses either…
Ok, I’m getting boring now…
I’m not techie but I’m a market research analyst and an awful cynic…
Ok, I better go and install that critical update on XP….!
