.doc generation support with PHP ?

Greetings all.

One of our client is currently using ASP.net technology, and wish to move to PHP/MySQL. One of his online tool is currently generating PDF on the fly, which i know PHP can handle.

Another requirment is for .doc generation ... can PHP handle this ?

thanks for the hint. unfortunatelly, his service will run on a Linux box.
