Why do I see forms having names?

Occasionally, I see a form tag where the form is given a name.

What is the purpose of this and can someone please give an example of how it would be used please?

Some forms have names so they can be referenced using DOM with javascript.

It also makes things easier when there are more than 1 form on the page.

There are probably other just as valid reasons but others will let you know
