PDFlib text overprint setting?

Hello,

Has anyone come across a way...(forgive my PDF ignorance) to specify an "overprint" setting for text that is to be displayed on a given color background?

do you mean, to put a background color behind the text?

because, i don't know what a PDF is...

Hello!

Yes I mean to specify in a PDF that my black text overprints on a colored background... (I can make this happen in the PDF when viewing on my screen...its the distilling process & preserving this so that a printing press knows that this is the case...this is where I am wondering if there is a specific setting within PDFlib that allows you to specify this.?? )
