Passwords

Hi,
I have come to this point where I have to many passwords for different serveres etc. I have these hidden on a flatfile on my harddrive on my Windows XP 🙂 (it is only normal user passwords).

Any way it is pain each time when I need to log in to a server and I have to scroll through the file each time.

What do you use to store all your passwords,
I have to look to another solution soon.

I use the Weedpacket method personally, but we have a bunch of users here that for the life of them just can't remember their passwords. So I made a small barcode labeling script in Qbasic and we just make a label with their username and password barcoded on it, and stick it on the back of their access badges. Now I only have to look up passwords when they forget to bring their badges 🙂

Does require some sort of scanning ability though. But you can pick up a barcode scanner for pretty cheap anymore.

Actually, that's not so dumb when you think about it (at least, not if you properly lose the paper so that no-one can find it). Writing it down as well engages more bits of the brain than reading or typing alone would; and the more bits of the brain that get involved the more thoroughly it gets learned.

actually no one suspects that they are passwords because i usually crumple up the papers 🙂

I use an encrypted access database what let's me look up usernames and passwords by the url. I also store my client's admin area and database information in there. Then I only have to remember one password - but that one is a random hex number that 256 characters long.
