Hi
You could run a log file (flat file or DB table) for each time somebody clicks on any link in your web page. It would be quite primitive, though. There are solutions already available. The following ones are for Apache:
Wusage (http://www.boutell.com/wusage)
Webalizer (http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/)
Webalizer is free, Wusage isn't. Wusage will cover Unix servers other than Apache. There also a win32 version of Webalizer (http://www.medasys-lille.com/webalizer) which analyses log files from IIS4 and 5.
Apache does, of course, run log files, but they are extensive and cryptic. The point of these software packages is to make sense of the log files. Many Apache-based providers offer Webalizer as part of the deal, but often only as part of the more expensive hosting packages. However, you may be able to run Webalizer yourself if your provider has no objections.
