Group By

Having a few problems with:

SELECT company,ref FROM table GROUP BY company ORDER by company ASC

Now I know that having ref in there will cause problems, but I don't know what to do.... (the manual did help a little, but not a great deal....)

Anyone think of a workround / solution ?

SELECT company,ref FROM table GROUP BY company, ref ORDER by company ASC

Not sure if that will give you the desired results, but the syntax is ok.

Ahh.. does that mean then that every column name mentioned in the select clause has also to be mentioned within the group by clause unless it is part of an aggregate function ?
