Conversion: Seconds to ... whatever.

I wanna take a number of seconds and convert it out to whatever it equals... hours, minutes, seconds... years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds, etc...

Anything out there existing?

I dont know anything out there but simple maths can do it

function convertSecHr($seconds) {
  return ($seconds / 3600); //3600 in 1 hr

Yeah, but calculating years, then months, then weeks, then days, then hours, then minutes, then seconds... Just a pain in the arse..

Was hoping there was code out there already.

Im not sure if your just lazy or want to be spoon feed.

However like i said its not hard, why not make a class so you dont have to do it all over again, and when the class i required just copy the file over into the project your working on. Good programmers do that.

I dunno if a class is even neccesary for this. I just made a function to do minutes/hours/days/months/years, and it was less than 20 lines of code, and took me less than a minute. Still, simple enough you should be able to do this on your own. planetsim gave you a good starting point.

1) I'm lazy -- so what. I've contributed tons of code and help to this community. I deserve to drag my ass every now and then.

2) I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it already exists. Why should I spend an hour on it when I can be doing something more productive -- like whining in a post.

3) I can't think of a third thing.

Yes i know the class is not neccesary but its a suggestion more or less.

You could probably do this on 10-12lines of code

function convertSeconds($seconds) {
  $array['seconds']=$seconds;
  $array['hours']=($seconds/3600);
  $arrary['days']=($seconds/3600/24);
  $arrary['weeks']=($seconds/3600/24/7);
  $arrary['years']=($seconds/3600/24/365);
  return $array;
}

Im sure it can be done better but this was a quick put together and not tested. Took 2mins max

As planetsim just pointed out, it takes 2mins, not an hour, and is only 8 lines of code. Too me it seems, it would have been easier for you to write the 8 lines of code then come here, navigate to this forum, hit the new thread button, type out your post, hit submit, wait for a reply, and repeat several times :p

First -- the code isn't what I was looking for... For example, if you have 348543762 seconds, break that out into YY:MM:WW😃D:HH:MM:SS -- not convert all of the seconds into years, all of the seconds into months, etc.

It depends on when I posted now, doesn't it? Since I wrote that message before I left work and I'm not driving one of those freaky new Toyota's with embedded bluetooth, I can't very well post while I'm driving now, can I? 🙂
