create an html file from scratch using php

I know is posible to write to a file, but can I create one and then write on it using php. I need my sistem to create automatically html files and save them on my server. Oh, and I neet to create folders to Is it possible? thanks for the help

Yup. Check out [man]mkdir[/man] and [man]fopen[/man].

And check the permissions on the directory where you are going to create the file.

For security reasons, Unix servers run Web processes under a special user/group. If you create a directory using FTP, ssh or telnet, logged in as yourself, the Web server probably will not be allowed to write to it unless you reset the permissions.

but the fopen() comand is for opening an existing file isnt it? if the file doesnt exist it will create one?
